Get ready to embark on a journey... to the world of Ghanaian master percussionist and singer Afla Sackey, celebrating the first full album release with his London-based funk orchestra Afrik Bawantu.

Sackey’s incredible orchestrations and compositions rejuvenate the long tradition of Ghanaian dance drumming and song, by weaving melodies in his native tribal language of Ga and English between complex drumming patterns, explosive solos and dynamic horn phrases lifted by funky guitar riffs and groovy bass lines.

Their first full album release ‘Life on The Street’ is a vibrant demonstration of how the band have played and worked closely together to create their own take on West African Highlife and Afrobeat, blending it with heavier funk, rock and jazz genres, enhancing the cross-cultural collaboration of members hailing from across Africa and Europe.
